The Engineering Department, through its General Contractor, Bomel Construction Company, Inc., will be reconstructing asphalt concrete paving on Harbor Boulevard between Commonwealth Avenue and BNSF bridge and on Santa Fe Avenue west and east of Harbor Boulevard. The work will be performed in phases.
Phase I will include grinding of existing asphalt pavement on Tuesday, May 29th, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. During this phase, traffic on Harbor Boulevard may be reduced to one lane each direction; traffic on Santa Fe Avenue west of Harbor Boulevard will be reduced to one westbound lane between Harbor Boulevard and Malden Avenue; Santa Fe Avenue east of Harbor Boulevard will be closed for traffic from Harbor Boulevard to 140 feet east of Harbor.
Phase II will include construction of new asphalt paving on Harbor Boulevard and Santa Fe Avenue. Harbor work will be performed at night on Tuesday, May 29th and Wednesday, May 30th, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.; Santa Fe Avenue work will start on Wednesday, May 30th, at 3 a.m. and is anticipated to be completed on Thursday, May 31st, at 10 a.m. During this phase, Harbor Boulevard and Santa Fe Avenue will closed to traffic.
Phase III will include installation of new striping within construction limits. Harbor Boulevard striping will be performed at night on Monday, June 4th, between 12 a.m. and 6 a.m. Santa Fe Avenue striping will be performed at night on Monday, June 4th, between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. During this phase, traffic on Harbor Boulevard will be reduced to one lane each direction; Santa Fe Avenue will be closed for traffic.
