City Hall Closed for Labor Day

Life of Post-War Japan at Fullerton Library’s Town and Gown
August 19, 2014Take a glimpse into the daily life of post-war Japan through a set of over 100 hand-written letters and typed aerograms written by an American couple, Joan and John Greenwood, who were living and working in the cities of Kobe and Osaka after World War II.

Presented by Dr. Kristine Dennehy, Professor of History at California State University Fullerton, where she teaches classes in Japanese, Korean, and modern world history, "Post-Occupation Japan Through American Eyes," is a special program presented by the Fullerton Public Library Tuesday, September 9, as part of its “Town and Gown” lecture series.

DUI Checkpoint August 28, 2014
August 18, 2014Fullerton Police to combat roadway deaths and injuries with DUI checkpoints. The Fullerton Police Department Traffic Unit will be conducting a DUI/Drivers License Checkpoint on August 28, 2014 between the hours of 8:00 PM and 2:00 AM.

The deterrent effect of DUI checkpoints is a proven resource in reducing the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol or drug involved crashes. Research shows that crashes involving an impaired driver can be reduced by up to 20 percent when well-publicized DUI checkpoints and proactive DUI patrols are conducted routinely.

Oates will be the featured speaker at the Fullerton Library Foundation's Author Luncheon on Saturday, August 23 at the Alta Vista County Club at 777 Alta Vista Street in Placentia. From 11:30 am to 1:30 p.m. guests will dine and hear from Oates who operates one of the most popular restaurant in Fullerton and has been recognized for his achievements in the industry by California State Senator Mimi Walters and U.S. Congressman Ed Royce.

Two New Exhibits at the Fullerton Museum Center
July 29, 2014The Fullerton Museum Center will be opening two new exhibits entitled, Ferry Cross the Mersey: The British Invasion and Six Strings as Canvas: Art Guitars from the Fender Custom Shop, on Saturday, August 16, 2014 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. This exhibit will be open to the public through November 9, 2014. The opening reception will be include refreshments from The Olde Ship British Pub and Restaurant, live entertainment including a performance by guitarist, Rusty Anderson, a curator's talk and more.

Orange County Guitar Orchestra featured at Fullerton Library
July 7, 2014The Fullerton Library will host the Orange County Guitar Orchestra on Monday August 18th, 7 p.m. in Osborne Auditorium. This unique performance will include wide range of traditional and modern music featuring 20 master classical guitarists.

The orchestra is conducted by famous renowned guitar teacher and performer David Grimes. All members hold a Bachelor's degree and/or Master’s degree in classical guitar performance. The ensemble specializes in performing exciting and colorful works composed or arranged for multiple guitars and is suitable for all audiences, especially those who embrace the fine arts.

City of Fullerton and City Manager Received Innovation Awards
July 7, 2014The city of Fullerton, along with their City Manager, Joe Felz, were honored at the third annual Golden Hub of Innovation Awards hosted by the Association of California Cities, Orange County (ACC-OC) on June 26. The event recognized innovation in local government. Councilwoman Jennifer Fitzgerald along with City of Fullerton staff attended the ceremony at the Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana.

“Stroller Brigade” at Fullerton Museum
May 27, 2014Fullerton, Ca –.The Fullerton Museum's "Stroller Brigade" will continue through July 23.

The Museum Center welcomes parents, caregivers, – and grandparents who baby-sit – to visit the museum Wednesdays morning to view the newest exhibit, Melancholy Menagerie: A Gaze into the World of Big Eyes, and take part in special activities specifically designed for the “stroller crowd.” Children will hear stories, learn rhymes and songs, and take part in educational play and arts and crafts.
