Fullerton Mayor Supports Small Business Saturday®
November 26, 2014Fullerton, Ca – Fullerton Mayor, Doug Chaffee encourages shoppers to shop in Fullerton on Small Business Saturday®, Saturday, November 29. "Small Business Saturday® is a day to celebrate and support our fabulous local small businesses that boost our economy and invigorate our neighborhoods."

The Fullerton Chamber of Commerce is once again taking the lead in promoting Small Business Saturday® and is encouraging everyone to Shop Small® in Fullerton on November 29.

To promote local businesses, the Chamber has developed a “Passport Shopping Booklet” which would encourage a visit to at least six participating retailers on November 29 to get their “passport” stamped. Once completed, passports would be turned in to the last business that was visited for a drawing to win one of nearly 100 $25-gift certificates from local small businesses.

Mayor Chaffee added, “Small Business Saturday® embodies the entrepreneurial spirit of our country. In Fullerton and across our country, I encourage shoppers to support that spirit which is so foundational to our success.”

For more information on Small Business Saturday® and participating businesses in Fullerton, please visit the Fullerton Chamber website at:

Update on West Coyote Hills
October 17, 2014
I would like to provide an update on the Path Forward plan announced at the April 15 City Council meeting pertaining to the future of the West Coyote Hills property.

The Path Forward plan was the result of talks between Pacific Coast Homes, the Friends of Coyote Hills, Open Coyote Hills and the City. It called for Pacific Coast Homes to sell the Coyote Hills property if the parties can agree on a fair price and reasonable terms.

I am happy to report that there has been a considerable amount of progress.

First, the City and the interested parties are focused on acquisition of the planned development area – known as Neighborhood 2 – which is adjacent to the City-owned Robert E. Ward Nature Preserve. This newly preserved land would combine with existing open space to double the size of the Ward Preserve. This represents a significant increase in contiguous open space that will benefit the residents of Fullerton.

Second, discussions are also focused on establishing clear parameters to acquire all or a portion of the remainder of the site if funds are available.

Lastly, as part of the Path Forward plan, Pacific Coast Homes has filed a revised development application with the City that is currently being processed. If approved, implementation of the development plans would be delayed for a reasonable yet definitive amount of time. This will allow additional time for interested parties to locate funding sources to acquire the land.

I am optimistic today that these acquisition discussions – which have now lasted 16 months – will lead to a significant increase in land preservation. I want to thank all the parties involved in helping to move this issue along toward a positive outcome.
