CERT Course Syllabus Persons requiring special accommodations to participate in the training classes are asked to notify the Fire Department staff at the time of registration.

Training days are the second Wednesday of even months. There is no training in December.
Courses will be canceled for insufficient interest (need 6 people to attend).
No training is planned for January, March, May, July, September, November and December.

Cribbing
| Earthquake Awareness — a study of the earthquake threat in Southern California, and what to do before, during and after a quake. Fire Awareness — fire chemistry, fire safety, utility control, creative firefighting techniques and how to recognized hazardous materials. Disaster Medical Operations — recognizing and treating life-threatening emergencies, the “ABC’s of Triage”, basic first aid and treatment management. Light Search and Rescue Operations — evacuation, search techniques, rescue methods, including cribbing. Team Organization and Disaster Psychology — developing a response team using people on scene, utilizing the Incident Command Structure and completing a psychological size-up of victims of a disaster. Terrorism and Homeland Defense — a study of the history of terrorism, DOs and DON’Ts during a terrorist attack, and Homeland defense tips. CERT Course Syllabus
