Beginning in early 2009, the City of Fullerton began handing out door hanger notices to residents and businesses that are observed by city staff to be wasting water. Some of the most common water wasting activities observed include broken or misaligned sprinklers, watering during the hottest time of the day or when it raining, and excessive water runoff from the property. The door hanger is meant to be a friendly reminder to homeowners and businesses regarding some voluntary and mandatory water efficiency measures and provides recommendations and/or requirements to correct the observed water wasting activities.
