Fullerton, CA - The Fullerton Library is hosting a weekly poetry event each Monday evening in June called "Muse Mondays." The shows are free and feature a different poet every Monday during the month.

Maureen Gebelein, Director of the Fullerton Public Library, explained, “The poets coming to the Fullerton Library are established and are entertaining presenters of the spoken word. This is a great opportunity for our community to hear the inspirational work of Fullerton's featured poets and personally meet them, many of whom have grown into celebrities amongst their peers.”

The Fullerton Library is a key supporter of local talent. Last years’ showcase, “An Evening with Eight Poets,” was so well attended that this year’s showcase has been expanded to become, “Muse Mondays.”

The lineup for Muse Mondays include:

June 2nd: Irena Praitis – Artistic views of the miracles of existence while being simultaneously caught up by horrific circumstances. Irena is a professor of literature and creative writing at California State University, Fullerton.

June 9th: Joe Thomas - His live performances have been described as nothing less than regal. Explore human relationship from an artist viewpoint.

June 16th: Jason Fairhurst Wall and Son - Intense dramatics of poetry, most visual and engaging.  His style can best be described as confessional and allegorical.

June 23rd: Christine Granillo - Her poetry touches on themes of existence, social issues, family and the sublime; the love of life with all its magnificence.

June 30th: Dan Joyce – One of Fullerton’s most productive artists. With the brush or with the pen, no subject is sacred while being playful, fun and poetic with a serious message – sometimes.

Shows start at 7:00 PM and end at 8:30 in the Fullerton Library, 353 W. Commonwealth Ave., Osborne Auditorium. Admission is free. Produced by Lew Dentler and sponsored by Fullerton Public Library. This is part of an ongoing series of Fullerton’s Local Talent Showcase presentations.
