|Fullerton, Ca – Free income tax preparation assistance for low- and moderate-income senior citizens will be offered Thursdays, beginning February 6, at the Fullerton Community Center. |
Volunteers trained by the Internal Revenue Service will be at the Center on Thursdays from 12 noon to 3 p.m. through April 10 to assist seniors in the preparation of their individual tax returns.
The tax assistance program is sponsored by the American Association of Retired Persons, the IRS, and the state Franchise Tax Board.
Appointments are required for seniors wishing to take advantage of the free service by calling the Center at (714) 738-6305.
When keeping their appointments, seniors should bring their Social Security cards and copies of their previous year's federal and state tax returns. They should also bring forms for the current year, including W-2s, 1099s, SSA-1099s, and other relevant materials reflecting income and expenses for the year. Homeowners who plan to itemize deductions must bring their property tax statements issued by the county – statements should reflect the entire tax year.
The Fullerton Community Center is located at 340 W. Commonwealth Ave., two blocks west of Harbor Boulevard, in Amerige Park.
Persons requiring special accommodations are asked to notify the center staff when making their appointments.
